I’ll forgive that Beck is one of those wacky Scientologists folks because he also happens to be one of my favorite musicians and always comes off incredibly endearing. That likable quality is on display in the video for his newest single, a duet with Charlotte Gainsbourg called Heaven Can Wait. The director’s very bizarre pitch treatment can be read here.

During my teenage years, I did a number on my body competing in the sport of wrestling. When I saw this photo series of high school wrestling champions shot after matches by Ben Watts, I was reminded of the blood, sweat and painful injuries.

The changing landscape of NYC has long been of great interest to me. I came across this piece about the Eagle Clothing factory space which is practically in my backyard. I hope this sign stays exactly where it is for a long time to come.

Joe Vanhoutteghem’s music video for The Hickey Underworld track Blonde Fire is one of the most bizarre and intriguing clips I’ve seen in some time. His commercial work seems to be a touch on the darker side as well.

Allison Schulnik is a painter and stop-animator. Something about her short film, Hobo Clown makes me think of the serial killer John Wayne Gacey who at one time had dressed up as a clown name Bobo. During his incarceration he took to painting clowns. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

A few days ago, I asked a friend who is a poet what she might want to pursue as a career had she not been a creative person. I’ve been thinking that if I weren’t a filmmaker, than I might like to be a butcher. Here is a really cool video of Shanna Pacifico, chef/butcher from Back Forty breaking down a side of beef. She discusses how the restaurant has adopted a local and sustainable way of offering meat.

I recently heard that motorcyclists are eight times more likely than automobile drivers to get injured in an accident and are thirty five times more likely to die. None of that really matters if you are riding something as gorgeous as one of the bikes below. The 1934 BMW R7 makes my heart skip beats. See more handsome bikes here.
