Made by Hand is a short film series celebrating the people who make things by hand—sustainably, locally, and with a love for their craft.
“It just takes buckets of blood and sweat and fucking work to get there, that’s it,” says Joel Bukiewicz of Cut Brooklyn. In this, the second film of the series, Bukiewicz talks about his failed life as a writer, how he became a knife maker, and the potential for a skill to mature into an art. In sharing his story, he alights on the real meaning of handmade—a movement whose riches are measured in people, not cash.
